Milo Lines, Visionary
He started working at a local grocery store in South Dakota where he learned valuable knowledge about how to effectively operate a business. He was a cashier and stock boy, which taught him how to value your customers and price out products. Little did he know these would be skills he would be using for the rest of his life.
The First Pop
One weekend, Milo was outside mowing the yard when the neighbor stopped to have a friendly talk. The neighbor was a local banker and he approached Milo about buying Noble Popcorn. The current Noble owners wanted to pursue other interests.
Milo loved the thought of a good business challenge and wanted to see the popcorn company become a great asset to Sac City. He talked it over with his wife, Sally, and his sister, and brother-in-law, Colletta, and Herb.
1986
The main business was raw popcorn for corporate gifts and fundraising that sold across the United States. It was a small company with only 6 employees.
Making Moves
His sweet tooth took over and decided to dive into making Caramel Corn. After presenting this challenge to the employees, it was soon a success. They had created delicious caramel corn. We refer to it as the best-kept secret in popcorn. The creation of caramel corn intrigued the employees and they decided they should try and make more flavors. Then came Cheddar Cheese and French Vanilla. Soon the flavored popcorn took the lead in sales. They soon added other favors: English Toffee, Cinnamon, White Cheddar, and Sweet and Salty.Today
We needed to start a retail line that would not compete with our fundraising organizations but would offer our products year-round. We wanted a name that was connected to the Sac City area. There are two rivers around Sac City, Racoon and Cedar Creek. We thought Cedar Creek gave an old fashion feel to match our old-time flavored popcorn.
We take great pride that we have been making delicious, flavored popcorn for more than 30 years.
Noble Popcorn and Cedar Creek continue to stay true to Milo’s beliefs: offering great products at a good value!
